Throughout my life, I have felt that finding the path to helping people is why I was brought into this world. At an early age, I realized I was privileged in this world in many ways and I wanted to use this privilege to make something of myself and contribute to society. I wasn’t sure about my path in life, but I was sure that I would make a positive contribution to society… I needed to make a difference.
I was born in Tabriz, Iran. Soon thereafter, at the age of three, I moved to Tehran, the capital city of Iran. I was privileged to be able to travel around the world and country. At age 7, Iranian revolution took place. During that time, the peoples’ fight for freedom turned to the oppression of women, freedom of all aspects was taken away in the name of religion. Instead, they used laws to belittle people, rape & torture; there were beatings, hanging & killing to pressure & suppress. That has been Iran for the last 33 years. At age 11, I was privileged to leave Iran for the United States for a better life. I remember as a child, sitting on the plane as we took off, I vowed to make something of myself– to stand up for people who didn’t have the same opportunity; to fight for peace, justice and equality world-wide.

In creation of one essence and soul
Other members uneasy will remain
If you’ve no sympathy for human pain
